Is Omega 3 fish oil good for men?

Omega 3 is good for everyone – from the cradle to the grave, and even before you reach the cradle! But there are some areas that apply to men in particular. I believe you guys would be pleased to have this information so that you can do something about keeping yourself well and healthy.

So here we go.

1) Omega 3 boosts testosterone levels
Testosterone plays several important roles:
It is responsible for how masculine you are.
It is important for building muscle and losing body fat.
It reduces the likelihood of metabolic syndrome which leads to Type 2 diabetes.

    2) Omega 3 is essential for a healthy heart
Considering that heart disease is responsible for 1 in 4 premature deaths in men annually this is a serious consideration.
Overall good nutrition plays a big role here: fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and good protein sources are what we need. Processed foods, sugary stuff and saturated fats not so much. Eating fatty fish such as salmon or mackerel would be a good source of Omega 3 oils but in my experience most people cannot eat it in high enough amounts to be a consistent source of Omega 3 oils. Supplements are almost certainly a more reliable source.

    3) Omega 3 benefits men’s sexual health
It can prevent or at least reduce the incidence of erectile dysfunction. Bear in mind that this condition is a symptom of something far more sinister – it is strongly associated with the beginnings of cardiovascular disease. And heart disease is the biggest killer of men even now.
This might also interest you: Omega 3 is associated with a frequency of intercourse and a greater success rate if pregnancy is the desired outcome!

    4) Omega 3 is essential for good mental health
Many men are battling with depression and generally poor mental health. And life is not getting any easier. In fact it is one of the leading cause of death for young and middle-aged men. Men are three time more likely to commit suicide than women.
Add to that the fact that ADHD, autism and bipolar disorder occur much more in boys and men than in girls and women.
Low levels of Omega 3 oils in the blood have been associated with poor mental health – and supplementing can go a long way to alleviate the problems and even prevent suicide.

Just a caution: all Omega 3 supplements are not made equal. Some work, and some don’t and some are probably frankly bad for you!
